Friendship Iftar with Ladera Community Church members

03/02/2026

On Saturday evening, February 28, 2026, Pacifica Institute warmly welcomed members of Ladera Community Church to a special Friendship Iftar at the BAYCC Community Center. The gathering brought together community members from different faith traditions to share a meaningful evening centered on dialogue, reflection, and community during the holy month of Ramadan.

The evening began with warm greetings, followed by welcome remarks from Pacifica Institute and BAYCC representatives. Guests were then introduced to Pacifica Institute’s mission and its ongoing educational and interfaith initiatives. Rev. Evelyn offered thoughtful reflections on how dialogue enriches our lives, emphasizing the power of listening, understanding, and building bridges across differences. A short Ramadan video provided context on the spiritual significance of fasting and true independence, showing how saying no to daily desires can lead to true independence. As the call to prayer (Adhan) marked the breaking of the fast and Rev Evelyn blessed the food, guests shared the iftar meal together in a spirit of gratitude and friendship. The evening concluded with words of appreciation and the presentation of scented candles as tokens of thanks to all who joined.

This Friendship Iftar served as a beautiful reminder that when communities gather around the table with open hearts, meaningful connections are formed. Through shared experiences and sincere conversation, Pacifica Institute and Ladera Community Church strengthened their bonds and reaffirmed their commitment to continued friendship and dialogue.
