BAYCC and Pacifica Institute volunteers participated in various voluntary projects organized by Peninsula Multifaith Coalition on the occasion of Martin Luther King Jr Day, 16th January 2023. PMC in partnership with diverse organizations conducted its annual MLK Day of Service by attracting children, kids, adults, and communities to community services.
We had the 3rd session of Tea-Talk on January 14th, Saturday. We met to discuss how we can make a positive impact through volunteering and charitable giving.
A group of young (at heart) individuals with new perspectives and ideas organized a 4-day Neorama Youth Winter Retreat program full of panels, group discussions, recreational activities, and project-building sessions on 23-28 December 2022. Events included panels such as “Status and History of Black Muslims in the United States” by Imam Abu Kadir and “Said Nursi Story: How he can be understood by all?” activities such as Paint Swap, Hiking, and escape rooms.
The Tea Talk series continues with sharing delicious Turkish food and having wonderful conversations. We got together on Dec 10 at 11am-1pm and this time, we focused on women’s mental health and self care.
BAYCC and Pacifica Institute Volunteers served Thanksgiving dinner for the residents of the Tiny House project in Oakland on November 24, 2022. Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) built 26 beautiful, youth-designed houses with the help of over 2,000 volunteers in Habitat-for-Humanity-style builds.
BAYCC and Pacifica Institute volunteers participated in the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayer service on November 22, 2022 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church organized by San Francisco Interfaith Council.
On Saturday, 19th of November 2022, The Pacifica Institute and BAYCC hosted an auspicious Thanksgiving dinner for its members and well-wishers at the specious Redwood Hall of Mount View Community Center. The event brought around 240 participants from various professional backgrounds, faith traditions, and ethnicities.
Dr. Recep Dogan, Professor of Islamic Theology participated as a panelist in an informative faith discussion organized by Peninsula Multifaith Coalition on 16th November.
On the 29 October, 2022, Pacifica Institute and Bay Area Cultural Connections hosted an event as part of Compassion Week. Lady volunteers of BAYCC, Pacifica Institute, and Los Altos United Methodist Church joined hands to prepare Muslim prayer rags, which will be supplied to Santa Clara County Correctional Facilities inmates.
As part of compassion week, BAYCC and Pacifica Institute volunteers hosted a children’s playhouse event for Habitat for Humanity organization on October 22, 2022. The playhouse was gifted to the healthcare worker’s family.
